The Carbon Challenge pits two teams against each other in a friendly and educational carbon footprint reduction effort.
A big thank you to the members of the Mercer Island City Council and the Mercer Island School Board for participating in the first Carbon Challenge!
The first version of this event ran from April 2010 to September 2010 and had the participants tracking their carbon footprints using EcoShift. By September, it was clear that the participants preferred discretely measurable tasks to the more analysis based approach using EcoShift. The challenge was modified to reflect this and then ran from October 2010 through March 2011. Team results were announced at a joint meeting of the City Council and School Board on April 14, 2011.
Three local groups have agreed to establish '22 Ways' Challenges in 2011: The Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Mercer Island Rotary and the City Government. We'll be providing further information about how you can establish your own challenge soon.
And now those challenges have been completed successfully. And if you'd like more information on earth history and carbon, go here
